Week 4 - Transparency

Week 4
Transparency as a trigger for creating a final work
The transparent body, the transparent space, the transparent process, the transparent materials

Tuesday the 7
Introduction to the concept into the group. A short brainstorm over the concept and also the understanding of the same concept in several layers’ in terms of the bodywork, the space, the process and the materials and strategies to intervening the space. The idea will be that they bring their own view drawing from all the experiences and experiments we were doing the last 3 weeks.

In 2 groups you will discuss the concept and you will develop your own strategy to work with this concept being sure you cover ALL the elements we mentioned:
Body, Space and Process

Think of:
Transparency as a metaphorical extension of the meaning f.e a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through.
How we make transparent the relation between body and space? Can we?
How we can augment the sensation of transparency by manipulating the space with certain materials?
How we can make a process transparent?

The idea will be to create groups and develop max a 15 minutes pieces in 2 groups where everybody collaborate and give insight to the process of dance making.

2 groups/
1. 6 dancers
2. 5 dancers
Two moments for showing: Wednesday (first time) right after the group will get feed back, second time (thursday) is the final showing and a final feed back.

Week 3 - Stage design with Objects - Indoors at DOK studios

Week 3 - Stage design with Objects - Indoors at DOK studios

Assignment: wed 1
You have 30 minutes to collect several objects and bring them into the studio. The objects you will collect need to have these characteristics be very rigorous about it.
The object needs to have the same color
The object can be repeated (many of the same)
The object can have diversity in size, texture

For choosing the objects think in:
- layout of a multiplicity of those object in relation to a specific space.
- think about a durational intervention that causes the object to be layed out in this specific way.
- the arrangement of the objects in space. What ordering, destruction, modulation strategies are possible?

Week 3 - First Session KNSM island

Choreographic score / open air KNSM island

Students make their own documentation/interpretation of the architectural score for the facades in a residencial complex in KNSM island

Week 3 Introduction to spatial staging of object in serie - Outdoors
Assignment tue 31
We will make a walk around the KNSM island to work in the public space with concepts as: multiplicity, difference and repetition and combination, variability.
Key issues. Preparation for spatial staging. Seriality, the object, multiplicity, whole-to parts relation, materiality, modulation and combination, variability
